Frequently Asked Questions

Update History

Version 1.00:

  • This is the initial release.

Version 1.01:

  • Under certain circumstances, the Restart function did not clear a prior Restart function, so the fTop parameter would not reliably reposition the preview display.

  • The colorToolbar member of the SFTPRINTPREVIEW_COLORS structure was ignored.  The tool bar background color could not be changed.

  • The PreviewRichEdit sample would not set the input focus to the Print Preview control, so keyboard input would not be accepted until the Print Preview control was clicked.

  • The PgUp/PgDn keys would stop responding after using the One Page tool bar button.

  • Previewing a SftTree/DLL control and turning Windows themes on/off would not repaginate the output, which is dependent on Windows themes.

  • The tool bar's edit control, used to enter a page number, did not use a 3D border without Windows themes.

  • The "Keyboard & Mouse Interface" topic has been added to the documentation.

  • Horizontal scrolling in single page mode using left/right arrow keys did not work correctly.

Version 1.02:

  • When a header or footer used the %total% variable, the preformatting stage could be cancelled, but would restart whenever the control needed to repaint a new page.

  • The toolbar would not visually reflect that the print preview control was disabled.

  • Under certain circumstances, the lines below/above the header and footer would not be painted or were only partially painted on Windows 2000 and below.

  • The small square at the bottom right of the control (created by the vertical and horizontal scroll bar) was not painted/cleared correctly and would show a portion of a previewed page.

  • An additional Dll is available (SftPrintPreview_IX86_V_10.lib), which can be used on Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista. This DLL does not use or reference Unicows.dll.

  • Support for Visual Studio .NET 2005 has been added.

  • Support for Windows Vista has been added.

Version 1.03:

  • The toolbar would not visually reflect that the print preview control was disabled (additional symptoms detected after changes to 1.02).

  • When margins were set incorrectly and SftPrintPreview would correct the margins, rounding errors (when using centimeters) could cause margins to still be within the non-printable area.

Version 1.04:

  • The Page Setup dialog would save the values entered correctly, but the next time the Page Setup dialog was used, incorrect values were displayed.

  • The up/down buttons for the margin values on the Page Setup Dialog did not work.

Version 1.05:

  • The left, right, top and bottom margin limits have been increased from 5" to 9.999".

  • The Page Setup dialog now accepts values up to 9.999" and 24.99 cm (instead of 99.999" and 99.99 cm) to be consistent with actually allowed values.

  • Minor updates to setup application and license manager application to better handle UAC on Windows Vista.
