When installing our products, a reboot is rarely required. However, if a reboot
is necessary on Windows Vista, extra steps are necessary to insure that the installation
completes successfully. While simple and straightforward, new Vista users may be caught by surprise.
Here are step by step instructions to successfully complete an installation:
The installation requires a reboot.
Simply allow the system to be rebooted, by clicking Finish.
If you are like most users, you probably won't pay attention during the reboot. Unfortunately, Windows
flashes a very important message after rebooting, which disappears all too quickly. Most users will
assume the installation completed and without error. Sadly, that is not the case.
Windows User Account Control blocks the installer so it cannot continue after rebooting
(Well, this is "safe", but not really all that useful). It is up to you to allow the application
to resume after rebooting.
After startup, Windows displays this message (briefly):
If you do nothing at this point, the product installation is incomplete.
Instead, click on the icon
to reveal the menu, which allows you to unblock the setup application...
... and click on "Setup Application - Installation Package".
This will resume the installation, but first you will have to allow the program to continue.
